Chapter and pages navigation

I took the time to add a navigation bar at the bottom of every page of the novel, and changed the way posts are displayed when you access the site. Now only the news are shown on the front page, the chapter pages are available on the right. I have a few ideas to make it easier still to start reading, but for now I have to continue writing a bit.

If this is your first visit, you can start reading the novel here.

The adventure starts

I guess I'm a bit crazy, but one can dream. I have been reading a lot of online comics lately which inspired me to share a story that has been trotting in my head for a really long time. I will try to do this the right way, which is to say doing it selfishly. I have to prove something to myself, so I'm writing this story for myself. Short of being able to create a graphic novel like so many talented artists do (as I have discovered of late), I want to see if I can actually pull this off.

I'm an optimist, but also a realist. I know, the two are seldom in harmony... I know from what I read that fame is not right around the corner, and that basing a project like this on something as volatile as fame means you most certainly will fail. I would lie if I said I did not hope to gain at least a few happy readers out of this, otherwise I would not put it up for anyone to read. I know that writing for your readers is a trap (sorry, no pun intended!): you end up writing thinking "Oh yes, I'll add this I'm sure my readers will love it". That may work sometimes, but you lose yourself in the process. You have to stay earnest and true to your self, which is what I will try.

I have to say at this point that I'm eager to start writing, but I'm also afraid I'll botch the whole thing. I'm not a particularly good writer, words don't always come easily. I'm a perfectionist on top of all that, meaning I'll spend ages rewriting that last paragraph. My hope is that doing it in blog format will allow me to do it at my own pace (=sluggishly) and try to improve my writing skills over time.

I have the main plot elements sorted out, now I just have to find a way to start the tale. A good night's sleep will do wonders!
