To fully use the capabilities of the blueprints search, you should tag them. Tags are directly selectable in the advanced search settings, so you can easily find matching blueprints.
For example, you may tag all your profitable BPs with a "profitable" tag, or even handle favorites by assigning a "fav" tag. Tags are the most flexible way to freely categorize your blueprints, as long as you know how you want to organize them.
As a general rule, you should try to tag each blueprint with all the characteristics that you may want to find it by later. For example, I keep a collection of COSMOS blueprints so I tagged them all with the "cosmos" tag. Additionally I wanted to be able to find them by the type of components required, so I gave them the "gurista", "angel", "talocan" etc. tags. That way I can find either all cosmos blueprints, or all matching a type of components.
